Baby bedding which is too much fluffy may be problematic for the babies as they are not able to push away the unwanted things from their way as easily as the adults can. If your baby moves in his sleep and ends up with his face on a fluffy blanket, there is a risk of suffocation.

It doesn’t mean that you can’t use that fluffy blanket you received as a gift from your mother-in-law, but it means that you should only use it when you are present and in control of whether or not your baby is putting it in his mouth. The safest type of baby bedding should be perfectly flat much as are sheets. The bedding can be soft, but not fluffy, but if you must somehow use the bedding which is any fluffier than your average sheet or receiving blanket, it should only be used when you are holding the baby and should not be used in the crib with the child.
