To project your sound over your audience, you’re definitely going to need a decent amplifier and some nice, cheap PA speakers that play loud. This will simply allow you to use your iPod as your mass storage collection for your music. These are just a few things you’ll need to start off with.

When he was young, instead of playing video games for hours on end, he DJ’ed to himself in his room for hours on a daily basis. Instead of being able to brag about beating whatever video game he was playing, he was literally “beating” his own tunes. The point is, if you want to do something, do it. Never let anyone tell you that you can’t and always keep yourself surrounded with positive people.

Create your self a nickname. Something Unique. Try not to stress out about it though. Even the most ridiculous name that was even thought to be boring at first, can eventually become famous. People are not big into the name, they just want to see the talent. As long as YOU like your name, you could call yourself, DJ Whatever, and the name will go famous or popular when you’re popular.

Once you have what you need, practice practice practice. Being a professional DJ is just like doing anything for the first time, you become better over time. After several weeks or a month or two of competitive practice, you’ll have enough confidence to get out there and promote yourself. If you’re starting out at a younger age, tell your friends you’d be more than happy to entertain at local party for them.

Buying DJ equipment does not have to be like buying a car. In other words, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars. Remember, most people starting something new work their way up as they become more and more successful. Then maybe they’ll start spending thousands of dollars on their new gear.
